The collaboration between City Green Light and the Municipality of Parma has led to the launch of the citizen engagement project on the AWorld platform ‘Together towards Parma Climate Neutral 2030’, aimed at raising awareness, educating, and mobilising citizens on environmental issues.
Parma confirms its position at the forefront in Europe on the path towards climate neutrality, an ambitious goal that places the city among the “100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030”. This commitment is taking shape through concrete initiatives which, thanks also to the contribution of City Green Light, have already delivered tangible results.
Since 2016, the management of City Green Light has led to a nearly 50% reduction in reports of malfunctions in Parma’s public lighting systems, with the monthly average of service requests falling from 250 to 130, and to an energy saving of nearly 70%.
These results, achieved through a total investment of €10 million to upgrade the entire public lighting network, demonstrate the effectiveness and ongoing commitment of the Group, positioning Parma among the most forward-thinking and sustainability-focused cities in Italy.
It is within this context that the collaboration between City Green Light and the Municipality of Parma was launched, with the citizen engagement project on the AWorld platform “Together towards Parma Climate Neutral 2030“, aimed at raising awareness, educating and mobilising citizens on environmental issues.
The goal is to raise widespread awareness and promote sustainable behaviors that can support Parma’s ambitious targets for a climate-neutral future by 2030. The choice of AWorld aligns perfectly with City Green Light’s mission, expanding its commitment from urban lighting to a broader context of sustainability, acting as an active partner in the city’s ecological transition and a catalyst for innovation.
The program “Together towards Parma Climate Neutral 2030” will run for six months, from June to November 2025, focusing on key environmental issues through monthly thematic missions.
Each month, citizens will have the opportunity to explore a different topic: energy saving and lighting in June; urban greenery and bee protection in July; renewable energy and energy communities in August; sustainable mobility in September; sustainable nutrition and product quality in October; and circular economy and waste management in November.
Within the app, users will be encouraged to daily log their sustainable routines, explore educational content, achieve goals related to sustainable mobility, engage in personal wellness activities, read curated news promoted by the Municipality of Parma, and participate in qualitative surveys.
These activities will allow participants to earn XP points—useful for climbing the community leaderboard—and gems, which can be spent in the app’s exclusive marketplace to unlock special offers and sustainable rewards.
Group missions will also be organized to encourage collaboration and strengthen the sense of community belonging.
